01 SHELTER KALVØYA
A shelter for human and wild sheeps on the remote island of Smøla in Norway.
Through a more local, low-tech and craft-oriented approach to building, the project explores wooden structures. By studying local building traditions, the project combines old, Norwegian techniques for wooden joinery with more contemporary influences. In the deep Norwegian tradition, a tight connection between the building and its surrounding natural landscape is desired. The structure seeks to be robust and flexible, in order to accommodate different use in the varying weather. Emphasis is placed on generality and variety in the spatial situations. Together with Jenny Fausa Torvik.
